Jaimie Lickers, Senior Vice-President, Indigenous Markets: I think if there was a particular change that could be made that could help realize some of these opportunities for First Nations and Indigenous communities to participate in, in the economy in a more meaningful way, it, it would be the legislative creation of true sovereign wealth funds for First Nations.
And, I&#8217;m &#8211; I&#8217;m not shy about my passion for the Indigenous trust space. I spent many years working in this space as, as a lawyer, drafting mechanisms for First Nations and Indigenous communities to safeguard their wealth for future generations, to grow their wealth for a better future, and there are restrictions and limitations to what can be achieved using existing legal structures like trust, for example. But, but there&#8217;s little choice for First Nations that are looking to do something more, something more progressive, less restrictive for their communities, even&#8230;even to unlock their own capital, to invest in projects, in their own communities, in their own territories, or the territories of other nations across the country.
And, I think without the creation of a more progressive entity, we&#8217;ve reached the max of, of what is capable using existing structures.
